Honoring the Memory of Ariel Mordechay Wollfstal
This year on Yom Hazikaron, the day of remembrance for fallen soldiers of Israel, there are so many heroic individuals to remember.
I find myself reflecting on the impact that one soldier, Ariel Mordechay Wollfstal, had on me and so many others during his service.
During a trip to deliver supplies to frontline reserve soldiers, I had the privilege of meeting Ariel.
Amidst the demanding circumstances of their mission, Ariel’s unwavering commitment to expressing appreciation stood out prominently. He dedicated time and effort to create a video, extending sincere gratitude to the donors who had orchestrated the provision of essential equipment.
One of Ariel’s fellow soldiers shared a touching story about him, illustrating his remarkable character.
“”He was a magnificent commander, always attentive to others. Once, in the north, he knew that I was going through a very tough time emotionally. Instead of bombarding me with discussions and claiming he understood me, he simply decided to lift my spirits in a creative way. He knew I loved cooking, so he asked the unit’s chef to organize supplies so I could cook my favorite meal.”
Ariel exemplified the true spirit of sacrifice and service, putting his life on the line to protect our homeland.
He was not merely a soldier, he embodied courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to our country.
He will always be remembered not only for his bravery on the battlefield but also for his warmth, kindness, and humanity.
As we commemorate Yom Hazikaron, let us honor the memory of Ariel and all the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for Israel.
May their memory be a blessing, and may we never forget the debt of gratitude we owe to them.
